new i.f.f. remix!

out today is taperecorders 30 second(ish) remix project. it is an album of 30 to 40 second long songs which are presented back to back with remixes of those said songs. the only rule we were given was that the remix couldn't be longer than double the length of the original. we are honoured to be alongside the likes of tim 'love' lee, hollis monroe, someone else, miskate, toof, rob mall, pacifica, and a bunch more. go get it here for free!

3. midnight snacks [siffler remix] 6:31

i have some not so good news about the amish funk remixes that we have been waiting for so long to see some kind of release. it unfortunately looks like robb audio has dropped the ball on this one. i just got this reply from jeff samuel:

"needless to say, i have already reworked the remix into something of my own after taking out the samples is used from your original
quite some time ago. i had figured that was a safe bet since i hadn't heard from robb in, what, over a year? sorry to dissapoint."

so for now we are currently shopping the other two remixes to new labels. maybe one day these amazing remixes will see the light of day. oh well. happy 2008 everyone.

in better news: the intergalactic faerie funk umbrella is proud to announce the birth of a new project by marc hug called taperecorder. live deep tech house. more info can be found at taperecordermusic.com - and, as always, there are a lot of things going on in mossyrock land.

the post below explains the plans for last few releases by i.f.f. and it already seems to be off course (like anything in the music world). one good thing is that there is an addition to the releases: the juniper flats e.p. has been released by galactique on their free music page. it contains three mid tempo grooves that were recorded out in the southern california desert. check it here. i will post the other releases as they happen. happy holidays!

so, like the post below explains, these are the last few dying days of the intergalactic faerie funk. autumn of 2007 seems like the perfect time to end it. bringing everything full circle. booyah! the final intergalactic faerie funk months are looking like this:

september:
shots of whiskey we have known. a 10 minute clip of i.f.f. live on the now defunct in-the-lab internet radio show. this live set from the summer tour of 2003 was completely improvised and captured a moody late friday night that took place in a dimly lit intimate setting with some
close friends and a bottle of whiskey. mike, andy, and i never really played anything like it ever again. free here.

october:
wkdu electronic music marathon. the last ever intergalactic faerie funk live show. back in the city it all began in. the electronic music marathon has been a fund raising activity at WKDU 91.7fm philadelphia for the past 9 years. they have raised money in the past for numerous charities both in and around the phildelphia area. more information here.

november:
midnight snacks remix e.p: an e.p. compiling the winning remixes from the sony aciplanet remix competition. there may also be a 20 minute megamix of some other great remixes that didn't make the top five.

december:
amish funk remix e.p: remixes by jeff samuel, someone else, & taperecorder. three remixes from the their kiss album. i am honoured to have these amazing musicians and fine characters give out the curtain call for me.

i have some bittersweet happy sad news to report on this fine autumn day: this october and november will see the final two intergalactic faerie funk (or i.f.f.) releases and the final set that will be played under that name. its been a grand old laugh but it is time to move along!

the final releases will all be remixes by various wonderful people. the releases will be:

the midnight snacks remix e.p.
like midnight snacks this will be available either mixed or unmixed. it contains remixes by the sony acidplanet midnight snacks remix competition winners. if you are unsure of what that is, let's just say i gave every sound that was used to make the 'midnight snacks' album for people to use in creating their own music out of it. there were thousands of entries that were all great (ok, there were a few stinkers too) and this e.p. contains the winners (plus a few other great remixes).

the amish funk e.p.
the second release contains remixes from the 'their kiss was like a paper airplane landing on the moon' album. it has a jeff samuel remix of 'theme', a someone else remix of 'amish funk' and a taperecorder remix of 'amish funk'.

on saturday october 20th i.f.f. will be playing the last show under that name as a part of the 91.7 wkdu electronic music marathon in philadelphia. it just seems perfect to end where it began - bringing everything full circle.

more news on what happens next when it happens. but for now, cheers everyone. and thank you very much...

random news: steve lawler used one of our songs on his new 3 disc dj mix cd. badass huh? it's called viva. jeff samuel and someone else are remixing some songs for our next release on robb audio. there is an i.f.f. remix and a someone else remix of whiskey is the devil by mossyrock coming soon on intrinsic. then there are two different versions of midnight snacks. the jesse saunders mixed version as well as an unmixed version (i have even heard of rumours of a 3rd mix). the august 4th & 5th weekend will have us playing at the frequency festival in pennsylvania.

i just found this on the xdn website news:

"jesse saunders mixes new intergalactic faerie funk (IFF). renowned & celebrated originator and creator and of the dance music genre known as "house music", jesse saunders is currently in the studio working on the newest release from nyc/philly's own intergalactic faerie funk. known for their intense live pa showcases and lengthy north american/canadian tour schedules, marc hug (mossyrock, intergalactic faerie funk) and the IFF crew are always in the spotlight in any aspect…"

i knew about this and am always the cautious one (make the announcement when the product is in my hand) - since experimental division has announced it - i figured i could post it on here. jesse is making a mix out of our new 'midnight snacks' album.

the new album features 5 brand new songs, 3 new interpretations of early tracks, and a hesohi remix of an old song of ours. of course, like the news above states, it will be all mixed together by jesse saunders. hells yeah...

we have a little holiday gift for all our i.f.f. friends. follow the link below to listen & download 'smooth: live, & indirekt'. it is recording of a show at killtime in philadelphia blended together with a recording of us at the dumkidz om festival. it's all there; the drunken rowdy mistakes, strange glitches, and distorted pieces...
cheers!

smooth: live & indirekt
